FIRST FRIDAY CLUB, El Barco Latino , Victoria Embankment (No need to book)

We will be there from 6.30 to 9.30 for socialising. Your hosts will be waiting for you but, as it is an early start, we may move on later as more than three hours can be excessive for some even on a Friday night! We very much hope to see you at El Barco (nearest tube Temple ). Cross over the road to the river and it is a few yards along on the right.

DURING THE DAY…

MODIGLIANI AND HIS MODELS, Royal Academy (Bookable)

This is the first major exhibition of the sculptor and painter Amedeo Modigliani (1884—1920) to be held in Great Britain for over forty years. The show includes examples of his nudes and portraits together with a small selection of his sculptures and paintings of caryatids. Modigliani's art drew on a variety of sources, from the European figurative painting tradition, to forms of Egyptian, classical and African sculpture. We will have refreshments afterwards at a venue arrived at by consensual discussion.

NEW SECOND TUESDAY – THE HOBGOBLIN (No need to book)

Welcome to the Hobgoblin in Balcombe Street. This is a 5 minute walk from Baker Street Tube. Pass Glentworth Street where Café Suze used to be, then Gloucester Place and then there is Balcombe Street famous for the siege in 1975. Read about it on the walls of the pub. Do not worry as you walk up Balcombe Street that all appears residential. Surely no pubs here? But carry on and there it is, on the right. Come to think of it, Marylebone Station is also very near. There are a few good beers and the usual selection of wines. Hungry? There is an exotic Thai menu. Main courses are around £8 including Phucket Chilli King Prawns and Jungle Curry. This is a quieter pub than usual so come and join us from 6.30pm and soak up the ambience. We will sit outside if we can!

Yes again it is the usual suspects!
